Compliance Manager
LendInvest is the UK’s leading FinTech platform for property finance. Over the past 17 years, we have grown from just our two founders to a team of over 200 working to make property finance simple for everyone.
A workplace culture built around trying new things, getting things done, and having fun while we do it has helped us lend more than £7.5 billion of mortgages, put thousands of new or improved homes into the UK housing market, and successfully launch on the London Stock Exchange. We have big plans to continue growing the business, our products, our technology, and our people.
About your work
Regulatory & Financial Crime Oversight:
Act as a key escalation point for complex second-line AML referrals arising from the Servicing team, providing expert guidance, challenge, and sign-off on decisions related to customer due diligence (CDD), enhanced due diligence (EDD), and ongoing monitoring.
Manage and coordinate the Compliance team's oversight of submissions and regulatory interactions concerning the Bank of England (BOE), ensuring accuracy and timeliness as it relates to Servicing data.
Own the Compliance oversight process for reporting obligations, specifically reviewing and challenging data accuracy and control performance related to payment services.
- Implement and manage the second-line review of overpayment requests, including:
Handling ad-hoc referrals from the Servicing team for complex or high-risk Source of Funds (SOF) and Source of Wealth (SOW) checks.
Conducting retrospective sampling of completed overpayment transactions to test the effectiveness of first-line AML/Financial Crime controls.
Risk and Control Management:
Oversee and challenge the design and operating effectiveness of the Servicing function's key regulatory controls. This includes maintaining the Servicing regulatory risk register and ensuring adequate mitigation for identified risks through Testing.
Review, challenge, and formally approve/reject requests for policy exceptions raised by the Servicing team, ensuring decisions are aligned with the firm's risk appetite and regulatory requirements.
Consumer Duty and Conduct:
Take ownership of the second-line review of the Servicing Consumer Duty scorecard. Challenge the quality and integrity of data and metrics used, and drive remediation actions where consumer outcomes are falling short of expectations.
Provide subject matter expertise on the overall regulatory compliance requirements for the loan servicing lifecycle (e.g., arrears management, collections, customer communications, conduct rules).
Specialised Servicing Activities:
Provide enhanced regulatory oversight for Special Servicing activities (e.g., complex restructures, forbearance, litigation, arrears management), ensuring all actions are compliant, fair, and adhere to appropriate conduct standards.
Financial Crime Governance and Strategy:
Own and continually assess the adequacy and effectiveness of the firm’s AML, Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF), Sanctions, and Anti-Bribery & Corruption (ABC) policies, controls, and procedures.
Maintain sufficient seniority and authority to challenge management and the First Line of Defence (1LOD) decisions or practices that may expose the firm to undue financial crime risk.
Reporting, Submissions, and Liaison:
Provide regular, comprehensive, and clear reports to the Board and Executive Committee on the firm's financial crime risk profile, control effectiveness, resource adequacy, and any material incidents.
Act as the secondary point of contact for the FCA and law enforcement agencies (e.g., NCA) on all financial crime matters, responding to requests for information and managing any supervisory queries or reviews.
Operational Oversight and Challenge:
Provide expert guidance and sign-off on high-risk customer approvals, including complex Beneficial Ownership Structures and Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs), ensuring appropriate Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) has been completed.
Provide second-line oversight and challenge.
Oversee and challenge the design and delivery of Financial Crime training for all staff, ensuring it is tailored to the specific risks of their roles and the firm's business model.
